Model Ana Montana Faces Felony Charges Over Alleged Prescription Fraud

Analicia Chaves, a prominent model and the partner of Charlotte Hornets guard LaMelo Ball, was taken into custody in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, on Monday, September 28. Chaves, 36, faces two felony counts of obtaining a controlled substance through fraud or forgery, as well as two misdemeanor charges for the simple possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance.

According to court documents, the charges stem from an incident in February involving a visit to a local pharmacy. Authorities allege that Chaves attempted to fill a prescription for alprazolam—the generic form of the medication Xanax—that had been issued by a physician using a DEA registration and National Provider Identifier (NPI) number that were reportedly stolen or obtained fraudulently.

Legal Response and Upcoming Court Appearance

Following her arrest, Chaves was released from custody after posting a $10,000 bond. Her legal representative, Matthew G. Pruden, provided a statement to the media clarifying the nature of the allegations. Pruden stated that the charges contend a physician utilized a fraudulent DEA registration and NPI number to issue the prescription, which Chaves then presented at a pharmacy to obtain the medication.
