Enes Kanter Freedom Details Private Exchange with WNBA Player Sophie Cunningham Following Arena Ejection

Former NBA center Enes Kanter Freedom has publicly disclosed details of a private text message exchange with Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham. The communication reportedly took place following Freedom’s ejection from a WNBA game between the Indiana Fever and the Chicago Sky on August 23.

During a recent appearance on Fox News, Freedom claimed that Cunningham reached out to him after he was removed from the Wintrust Arena. According to the former professional athlete, Cunningham sent a message asking, “What happened?” Freedom stated that he replied to the inquiry by explaining his actions, telling her, “I just got up and opened my arms in the air and said, ‘I’m here to protect my friends.’” Freedom did not provide further documentation or additional context regarding the alleged conversation.

Background of the Arena Incident and Legal Action

The ejection occurred during a timeout when an interaction took place between Freedom and Chicago Sky player Natasha Cloud. Witnesses observed Cloud pointing and shouting in the direction of the former NBA player, who then stood up and moved toward the court with his arms spread. At the time, Freedom was wearing a shirt bearing the phrase, “WOMAN noun. Adult human female.”
