Russia Resumes Drone Strikes on Kyiv Following Expiration of Diplomatic Pause

Russian forces have resumed drone attacks on the Kyiv region after a three-day suspension of strikes coincided with a diplomatic visit by U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to the region.

Russia Resumes Drone Strikes on Kyiv Following Expiration of Diplomatic Pause

Russian military forces have resumed drone strikes against the Kyiv region following the conclusion of a three-day pause in attacks. The suspension of hostilities had been ordered by President Vladimir Putin to coincide with a weekend diplomatic mission to the Russian and Ukrainian capitals by U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine confirmed the resumption of hostilities late Monday, reporting that Russian drones had targeted the Boryspil and Fastiv districts. In response to the renewed activity, the Kyiv city military administration issued an air raid alert, warning residents of the ongoing threat and urging the public to seek safety in designated shelters.

Diplomatic Mission and Resumption of Hostilities

The three-day cessation of strikes was initiated during the visit of President Donald Trump’s envoys, who held discussions in both Moscow and Kyiv. While the pause was intended to facilitate these diplomatic efforts, Russian state news agency TASS confirmed that the period of inactivity had officially expired, leading to the immediate return of aerial operations in the region.
