Following the operation, the police confirmed that all recovered items and banking records were transported to a high-security facility. Mass Burials Commence for Unidentified Victims
While recovery efforts continue in some sectors, authorities in the Chitwan district have begun the process of conducting mass burials for victims of the floods. Hundreds of bodies, recovered after being swept away by the torrents, have been interred in the Devghat forest, located approximately 200 kilometres from the worst-hit valleys in Rasuwa.
The decision to utilize the forest area as a temporary burial ground was driven by urgent public health concerns. Ganesh Aryal, the chief district officer of Bharatpur, Chitwan, stated that the rapid decomposition of the remains left officials with no alternative. The mass burials are being carried out for victims whose bodies were too badly decomposed to allow for identification, marking a somber phase in the aftermath of the disaster that struck the region on Wednesday.
