A Miami man has been taken into custody following a fatal motorcycle crash that authorities allege was caused by reckless driving.

Following the initial fall, the riderless motorcycle continued to slide across the street, eventually colliding with the front of a white 2026 BMW X5. While the passenger, whose identity has not been released by officials, remained on the pavement in critical condition, Cacciapaglia reportedly fled the scene on foot. The passenger was transported to a local hospital but was pronounced dead less than an hour after the incident.
Police tracked Cacciapaglia to his residence, where they interviewed his roommate. The roommate reported that Cacciapaglia had returned home with visible injuries to the right side of his body and appeared to be in an altered mental state. Law enforcement officers later located the suspect at a hospital.
Upon his arrest on Friday, Cacciapaglia declined to provide a statement to investigators. As of Monday, he remained held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center with a bond set at $100,000. A public defender representing Cacciapaglia did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding the allegations.
