Lil Durk Acquitted in Murder-for-Hire Trial as King Von Case Remains Unresolved

A federal jury has returned a not-guilty verdict for rapper Lil Durk, whose legal name is Durk Devontay Banks, in a high-profile murder-for-hire trial. The proceedings centered on allegations that Banks financed a retaliatory plot targeting rapper Quando Rondo, following the 2020 death of Chicago artist King Von, born Dayvon Bennett.

While the acquittal concludes the federal case regarding the alleged 2022 shooting in Los Angeles—which resulted in the death of Quando Rondo’s cousin, Saviay'a "Luh Pab" Robinson—it leaves the long-standing questions surrounding King Von’s own homicide unanswered. The legal status of the 2020 investigation remains unchanged, with no individual having been convicted for the fatal shooting.

The 2020 Atlanta Shooting and Legal Aftermath

King Von was killed on November 6, 2020, during a violent confrontation outside the Monaco Hookah Lounge in Atlanta. The incident, which involved members of opposing entourages, resulted in the deaths of three people. In the immediate aftermath, authorities arrested Timothy "Lul Tim" Leeks and charged him with felony murder. Leeks, who sustained gunshot wounds during the altercation, was eventually released on a $100,000 bond after appealing to the Superior Court.
