A routine patrol in the city of Leawood, Kansas, took an unexpected turn on Thursday, September 17, when a local police officer was led by a dog to its injured owner. The incident, which has since gained significant attention online, resulted in the rescue of a resident who had been unable to move for several hours.

The encounter began when the officer noticed a dog wandering in a residential area while on a leash but without its owner in sight. When the officer approached the animal, it began barking, prompting the officer to attempt to direct the dog back toward its home. After the officer returned to his patrol vehicle, he observed the dog heading toward a nearby residence and decided to follow it for approximately half a block.

Rescue and Recovery

Upon arriving at the driveway, the officer was met by a second dog. He then noticed that the garage door of the home was open. Investigating further, the officer discovered the homeowner lying on the floor inside the garage. According to the Leawood Police Department, the individual had been incapacitated in that location for more than three hours.
