A 39-year-old man from Rochester, New York, has been arrested for allegedly threatening to kill
The threats were first identified by a member of the U.S. Secret Service who was on duty at Trump Jr.'s residence on June 18. According to the criminal complaint, Eckert also made multiple threats in an eight-minute video posted on the platform Rumble while watching a live stream of the podcast. In the video, he allegedly stated, "Your [sic] dead, its over guys," and expressed intentions to harm Trump Jr. while making a series of aggressive remarks.
In addition to the threats against Trump Jr., Eckert has a history of making alarming statements. He reportedly threatened Chris Pavlovski, the CEO of Rumble, and had previously posted threats against Malik Evans, the Democratic Mayor of Rochester, on a Facebook account that also included his full name. On June 11, the same account featured a threatening message directed at New York State Senator Samra Brook, stating, "You are going to die."
Eckert now faces serious charges for making threats to kill, kidnap, or cause bodily harm to a member of the President's immediate family. This crime carries a potential maximum sentence of five years in prison. He made his initial court appearance on Monday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark W. Pedersen and is currently being held pending a detention hearing scheduled for July 20.
The case highlights ongoing concerns regarding threats against public figures, particularly those associated with high-profile political families. As investigations continue, authorities are taking these threats seriously, reflecting the heightened tensions surrounding political discourse in the current climate.
