A distinctive tropical property in the Florida Keys, which served as a filming location for the Netflix drama series Bloodline, has moved quickly toward a sale. Listed in September for $2.25 million, the home secured a purchase contract just days after being promoted on social media, where its connection to the popular television show was highlighted.
Ernesto Portuando, an agent with American Caribbean Real Estate, noted that the property’s Hollywood history proved to be a significant draw for potential buyers. According to Portuando, digital promotional efforts for the home garnered approximately 60,000 views across Instagram and Facebook. The agent observed that the combination of the home's unique location and its association with the series generated a level of interest in the region not seen since the filming of the classic movie Key Largo.
A Tropical Setting with Hollywood Ties
The residence, located at mile marker 87 in Islamorada, is situated on the bay side of the Overseas Highway. Spanning approximately half an acre across two parcels, the property features a white-walled cottage design surrounded by lush tropical vegetation. The 2,796-square-foot home includes three bedrooms and three bathrooms, with interior features such as vaulted ceilings and hand-carved walnut flooring. While the house does not sit directly on the water, it offers access to a nearby park equipped with a boat ramp, beach area, and temporary docking facilities.
The current owners, Matt and Debbie Pribyl, first encountered the production team in 2014 while they were in the process of renovating the home. Despite the presence of construction debris, the production crew, seeking an authentic Florida Keys aesthetic, selected the property to serve as the residence for the characters Kevin and Belle Rayburn. The home remained a recurring filming site throughout the show’s three-season run, with production crews periodically returning to transform the space for various scenes, including pivotal moments involving the Rayburn family.
Economic and Cultural Impact
The production of Bloodline, which starred Kyle Chandler, Sissy Spacek, and Ben Mendelsohn, had a measurable impact on the Florida Keys. A study commissioned by the Monroe County Tourist Development Council indicated that the first season alone contributed nearly $5.8 million in direct production spending to the area. Furthermore, the series is credited with driving over $65 million in tourism-related spending, as fans of the show traveled to the islands to visit recognizable landmarks such as the Caribbean Club and the Green Turtle Inn.
For the Pribyls, who have lived in the Florida Keys for two decades, the sale marks a transition to a new chapter. While the production equipment and cameras have long since departed, the home’s brief tenure as a television set has left a lasting impression on its marketability. The rapid interest in the property underscores the enduring appeal of the locations featured in the series, which continues to draw visitors to the region years after the show concluded.
