While the FBI has not disclosed specific details about the tools, Morgan Wright, CEO and founder of the National Center for Open and Unsolved Cases, suggests that the focus may be on innovative methods of data analysis.

Wright emphasized that the resolution of this case is likely to hinge on technical advancements. "The solution to this case is going to be, I think, something technical, something that they come up with — new ways of analyzing data," he stated. He pointed to potential areas of focus, including video forensics, signals analysis, and blockchain technology. Video forensics could enhance existing footage to help identify the suspect or their vehicle, while signal analysis might involve examining cell-site data or advertising technology. Blockchain could potentially reveal the identities behind ransom attempts, shedding light on their legitimacy.

In discussing the investigative strategies, Wright categorized the potential breakthroughs into three main areas. He noted that while investigative genetic genealogy could offer significant insights, it is not a novel approach. He also highlighted that current evidence suggests the involvement of only one kidnapper. "I don't know that there's anything else to indicate a second person," he remarked, underscoring the focus on the primary suspect.

Wright further detailed the suspect's actions, noting that they attempted to obscure surveillance cameras and took measures to conceal their vehicle rather than their face, which was already masked. "The blood trail stops at the edge of the driveway," he explained, indicating that a vehicle was likely involved in the abduction.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has acknowledged the frustration felt by the Guthrie family due to the lack of answers but remains optimistic about the investigation's progress. "My team, I’ve said all along, they’re gonna solve this," he asserted. "I fully 100% believe that. … When you have the best minds of the country working on problems, I think they’re gonna solve them. It just takes a while."
