According to the drivers, the woman had invited them to step onto her balcony to admire the view after they finished moving the package inside. Moments later, she complained of feeling dizzy. As Bunzow reached out to steady her, she collapsed. Beam, who was nearby, managed to catch the woman, preventing her from striking her head on the floor. Upon realizing that she had stopped breathing, the two men immediately initiated emergency assistance.
Rapid Response and Emergency Intervention
Beam, who possesses prior training in safety response, began performing the Heimlich maneuver while Bunzow contacted emergency services. Bunzow later noted that his ability to recognize the severity of the situation was influenced by the recent loss of his own mother. The drivers continued their efforts to assist the woman until paramedics arrived on the scene approximately five minutes later.
The woman’s son, James, credited the drivers with preventing a potential tragedy. He emphasized that because the men were already inside the home and acted with such urgency, they provided critical support that emergency responders might not have been able to offer in time. He noted that the family is now focused on his mother’s recovery rather than funeral arrangements.
