The newborn’s name holds deep personal meaning for the couple, serving as a tribute to both sides of the family. The middle name “Thomas” honors Nina’s father, the Swiss businessman and VistaJet founder Thomas Flohr. The name “Konstantinos” is a tribute to Philippos’ late father, Constantine II, the last King of Greece, who passed away in 2023.
Philippos, 40, is the youngest child of the late King Constantine II and Queen Anne-Marie of Denmark. Born in London and raised in the United Kingdom, he has established a career as a financial analyst in the United States. Nina, 39, is a businesswoman and philanthropist known for her work in conservation and hospitality, as well as her role as the founder of the Kisawa Sanctuary.
A Private Life and Royal Connections
The couple’s journey to parenthood follows a series of three wedding ceremonies held between 2020 and 2021. Their initial civil ceremony in St. Moritz, Switzerland, was followed by a small celebration in Cambridgeshire, before they held a formal religious ceremony at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens in October 2021. That final event was attended by various members of European royalty, including representatives from the British, Danish, and Spanish royal families.
Philippos maintains significant ties to the British royal family; he was a godson of the late Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, and his late father was a close friend of King Charles. This development follows a notable change in the status of the former royal family. In 2024, Philippos and several other family members had their Greek citizenship reinstated, ending a long-standing dispute that had seen the family stripped of their nationality in 1994.
