Widow of Roblox Software Pioneer Files Lawsuit Alleging $6 Million Scam by Escort

The widow of a prominent computer programmer who helped develop core software for the gaming platform Roblox has initiated legal action in Manhattan Supreme Court, accusing a male escort of orchestrating a multi-million dollar financial scheme. Marianne Flippo, 49, alleges that Gregg Starr, 38, exploited her grief and physical vulnerability following the death of her husband to gain control of approximately $6 million.

In the court filing, Flippo describes a period of intense personal distress following the death of her husband, Chad Flippo, who passed away by suicide in August 2024. The couple had been married for 28 years. According to the lawsuit, Flippo was also managing a serious health condition, vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, at the time she encountered Starr. The two initially met through an agency called Cowboys 4 Angels, which Flippo hired to provide a companion for a trip to Italy to secure medication.

Allegations of Financial Manipulation and Coercion

The lawsuit details a sequence of events beginning after the Italian trip, where Flippo claims Starr began to exert undue influence over her. She alleges that Starr, who maintains a professional profile as a private equity investor, convinced her to pay $450,000 to secure his exclusivity. Subsequently, she claims he pressured her to pay a $10 million "buyout" fee to release him from his contract with the escort agency, leading her to transfer nearly $6 million into a joint bank account.
