An Israeli man was killed in a shooting incident near the West Bank settlement of Neve Tzuf, also known as Halamish, on Sunday. The attack occurred shortly before the commencement of the Yom Kippur holiday, prompting a swift response from Israeli security forces and a pledge of accountability from the country's leadership.

The victim, identified as Netanel Shukrun, a 30-year-old father of six from the Alei Zahav settlement, was visiting a natural spring in the area with his eldest son when the gunfire erupted. According to reports, the assailant fired from a vehicle before exiting and fleeing the scene on foot while still armed. Shukrun sustained critical injuries and was transported to Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva, where he later succumbed to his wounds.

Security response and military operations

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported that a combat tracker from the Binyamin Regional Brigade engaged the suspect as he attempted to escape, successfully wounding him. Following the encounter, the individual fled to a hospital near Ramallah, where he was subsequently apprehended by Israeli commandos from the Duvdevan Unit, acting on intelligence provided by the Shin Bet security agency. Authorities also seized the vehicle used by the suspect.
