The support program will allocate Dh100,000 to each of the families of the deceased workers, totaling Dh700,000 for the bereaved. Additionally, Dh180,000 has been set aside to assist with the medical treatment and recovery of the nine injured survivors. The package also includes Dh70,000 to cover emergency travel and accommodation costs for relatives, as well as Dh50,000 designated for the education of children from the affected households.
The accident occurred when a minibus transporting employees from a Dubai-based company collided with a truck that had reportedly stopped due to a mechanical failure. Among the victims, six were Indian nationals, with three hailing from Uttar Pradesh and three from Telangana, while one victim was from Sri Lanka. Some of the injured workers have been discharged from the hospital, while others continue to receive medical care.
Dr. Vayalil expressed his condolences and emphasized the importance of providing immediate relief to families grappling with the aftermath of the tragedy. "These were workers who came to the UAE with hopes, responsibilities, and dreams for their loved ones," he stated. He acknowledged that while no financial support could replace the lives lost, the assistance aims to alleviate some of the burdens faced by grieving families and aid in the recovery of the injured.
In his commitment to inclusivity, Dr. Vayalil noted that the assistance would be extended to all affected individuals, regardless of nationality. Coordination is currently underway with the Indian Consulate in Dubai to ensure support for Indian families impacted by the accident. Meanwhile, Dubai Police have confirmed that investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing, as the relief package seeks to provide both immediate financial support and address longer-term challenges, particularly concerning the welfare and education of children.
